Summer Scholar                     Jun 2009 – Aug 2009

 

  • Conducted research on how to increase the autopsy rate at the hospital. Presented a poster of project findings to the Pathology Department.
  • Shadowed autopsies performed by a forensic pathologist and learned pathological techniques of disease identification in the human body.
  • Drafted a budget for a proposed takeover of the local county medical examiner services that led to a 50% increase in overall autopsy caseload.
  • Attended several medical education events including seminars, conferences, and grand rounds.
Project Consultant                May 2008 – July 2008
  • Analyzed warehouse leasing proposals concerning major expansion of logistics services in several countries and identified the plan with the highest long term commercial value.
  • Created an outline of all current key performance indicators (KPIs) and proposed new strategy for organizing KPIs into an integrated dashboard for senior management.
  • Conducted an in-depth study of activity based accounting software vendors including an analysis of software capabilities, potential business impact, and cost comparison.
Finance Intern                          May 2007 – Aug 2007
  • Created a strategic plan for the CFO on the reorganization of the $950MM automotive dealer group account by identifying key field office locations where consolidation is possible through a comprehensive study on potential fixed cost synergies. 
  • Modeled burn rate reporting and created progress reports for large automotive industry client on the ongoing expansion of the digital services group. 
  • Developed an Access database for the human resources department to track temporary employees; streamlining the process for entry of invoices and cost projections. 
  • Worked in a team of five to devise marketing strategy for major fast food restaurant chain designed to increase late night sales in order to gain back market share. Presented proposal to group account manager and creative director.
Project Consultant                   Feb 2007 – May 2007
  • Created a report on marketing strategies for the University Health Services BASICS, a program designed to reduce heavy drinking among college students.
  • Coordinated a team of three to analyze the operations and implementation of the BASICS program at universities across the country along with compiling the best practices for the program.
  • Proposed a plan for capturing and cataloging the target audience that uses a health screening survey collected through the university’s computer network.
